Oh! The Views.

Decided to drive up to Keller Peak and admire the views. I don't know why I don't do this often. It is pretty much my backyard. The creeks were all dry but still great views. Also shot a small video looking down at Big Bear Valley, Snow Valley ski lift, Greyback and San Gorgonio.

Discovered Granny Gretchen Story Time at Lake Arrowhead and took Natalia and it was very nice. This may be our Friday morning outing as long as possible. Also went to the Live Oak Pumpkin Farm. A bit warm and expensive. I managed to get out of there sending no money and Natalia had fun. Of course all she remembers was a wood cutout of Frankenstein.

It will be very hot the next few days and towards the end of the week a big change. My weather guy says snow possible at high elevations by the end of the week. No snow here yet but the shift may happen this week.

Still reading Bitter Seeds and stories from the Necronomicon every now and then.

Why is raising children so hard? Just read Brave New World and get some tips. You can also say that today's society may be aiming for Huxley's world as the pharmaceutical firms push medications and determine what is "normal".

Not much happened this week. A few days off and I took them with no complaints. Temperatures have started to lower slightly and you can see the changing of the seasons starting to take place. The leaves are falling and there seems to be a constant breeze among the trees. I better get off my ass and start splitting all that wood I have.

My next book is Bitter Seeds by Ian Tregillis. Kind of an alternate universe with supernatural elements. This will be my 30th book and thus I will complete my challenge to read 30 books. I will keep going until the end of the year to see how many I read in the year. Also still wondering the lands of Pandora in Borderlands 2 on XBOX.

If Kenobi/Skywalker are not your choice maybe these are. Forget Google street view, check out Google Ocean. On the cycling news, Phillipe Gilbert from Belgium takes the World Championships. He will be a good wearer of the jersey next year.

Now, I'm Impressed.

Ok, now I'm impressed. My BFF (OMG, LOL) has finished a half marathon. So happy to see he is active again and doing what he likes. Now I have no excuses and need to get out and do the same. I must say he has a huge advantage in having a cool supportive wife. Seems like the only thing I run lately is my mouth. But for the record I do get out and exercise. I run 3 miles yearly (1 1/2 every 6 months). Matter of fact I'll be running my mile and half in a few weeks, so shut up.

With that being said, you'll be able to find me in Borderlands 2 playing as Maya. All friends welcomed. Since I'm broke again and need to save up money I'll be home playing and reading and maybe catching up on movies.

Finished reading The Long Earth and I was disappointed in the ending. What the heck? Just pretty much built up this special being and BAM! the end. I decided my next to be the classic by Aldous Huxley's Brave New World.

Elections are around the corner and I managed to not post too much of my political views. Weird since it is one of my things. I guess it is the Puerto Rican in me, we are all political. But to make light of our problems and what may be a horrible 2013 I ask you to consider these candidates.

I started to use Facebook recently and I like it as I have been able to find old friends but is it me or is Facebook too advertising heavy. Seems like half my page is all ads. With that being said feel free to add me.

Geek News! - Dragon Age 3: Inquisition has been announced and it looks to be a first person perspective game. It has been announced that Captain America will become president in the Marvel's Ultimate Avengers universe. Kick Ass 2 movie is on the way and it looks like Hit Girl will get more screen time. The new Captain America movie will feature Falcon! The next Batman movie will again focus on the Joker and lead to the Justice League movie.

Cycling Worlds are this week and first event was the first TTT by teams and not by country. Omega Pharma-Quickstep takes the win while Taylor and BMC was just 3 seconds behind. On the Individual TT Martin takes the jersey and Taylor takes second place by just 5 seconds.

1. 2. 3 years? After so many years my friend J is still riding around. This past weekend he went around again for who knows how many times the Skull Valley Loop. I think it is an event he holds dear to his heart. I think he wants to set a record as the person whom competed in this event the longest. Thus far I count about 20 years.

1. 2. 3 hours? Borderlands 2 is finally here and I haven't played as much as I was planning but next week looks promising. Thus far no complaints. Game is very identical to its successor which is not a bad thing. I have chosen to play as Maya and will get online once I get at least past level 10 in the single player game. How many hours will I spend in this game?

1. 2. 3 Earths? Still reading The Long Earth and hope to get it finished by this weekend. The story and feel of it is very Jules Verne like, which I like. Interesting to read about a concept of multiple earths and being able to move through them.

Immortality and Jigawatts!

Finished reading The Book of Lies. I likes the story very much and kept me turning pages. The search for the meaning of the Mark of Cain and the Superman back story combination is a winner. This book got me referring to the bible for the passages.  The ending I was hoping for something of more "grandeur" but a good ending. The quote above narrows the story. Decided to read The Long Earth by Sir Terry Pratchett.

To the uneducated or plain stupid people out there - It's GIGABYTE not JIGAWATT. Sometimes I get insulted by correcting people. What's the difference? JIGAWATTS is a unit of measure used by a Flux-capacitor for time travel, Duh! By the way, Apple has not yet released the 16 JIGAWATT iPhone. Can you imagine, Time travel takes 1.21 JIGAWATTS. I'm still waiting for that one.

Work lately has been a pain due to the remodel and so many customers don't understand and like to be a pain in the ass for no reason, but that is part of the clientele there. On top of that the new iPhone has been announced and I am seen as the answer person for all.

Next week Borderlands 2 arrives and I am eagerly awaiting to jump back into Pandora. I hope to hook up with friends to play online. So if you're in XBOX Live and want to play Borderlands, let me know.

Avengers 2 will be out May 1, 2015. So please don't ask if its out on DVD yet. The attempt to bring back Daredevil to the big screen has been scrapped.

Comikaze Expo was this weekend and I found out about it too late to make plans to attend. I would have loved to have gone down with Natalia, but someone didn't think to let me know.

The Sounds Of The Wind

As I write it is a little windy outside. The sounds of the wind hitting the pine trees is one of the reason why I live up here. Impossible to describe. Almost feels like the seasons are about to change, but I know it is still a few weeks away. Not much happening these past few days. Just work and reading. These next few days to cleaning around.

Going through our new release movies at work I came across this classic. These movies just spark a special feeling inside. The Christmas movies are simply classics.

Finished reading Star Corpsman: Bloodworld and loved it. The insight to a Corpsman world was awesome as well as all the descriptive combat scenes. I decided to email the author and got a reply from him thanking me and telling me he has one more contract for a second book. He hopes this first one sells well. Left my normal Sci-fi/Fantasy books and started to read The Book Of Lies by Brad Meltzer. Thus far it is an awesome book. Will finish that shortly and will find myself looking for another book. Any recommendations?

A few more books have caught my interest. My list just keeps growing. I am interested in reading Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman and George Washington Werewolf. I would also love to find the original Star Wars book that inspired the movie Star Wars: From The Adventures Of Luke Skywalker by Alan Dean Foster. Keeping in the book subject, I would love to find some decent used book stores. I have a friend telling me there are a few local. I must visit them.

23rd Century Corpsman

Finished reading Charon's Claw and found it very entertaining full of action from the first pages. Nice to see Salvatore back on track. Started to read Star Corpsman: Bloodstar, an actual physical book. Yes, one where I have to flip pages. It is about  Corpsman in the far future and written by Ian Douglas (pseudonym), a Corpsman himself. So far the book is a good read and is very true to what a Corpsman does.

Drill weekend went rather well with a very small crew. A couple of new guys and a returnee from Afghanistan was doing a flex drill and was a welcomed addition. Next month we will be back to our big unit and hear stories from the weapons familiarization training.

Took Natalia to the bookstore as usual and started to look at Halloween costumes and decorations. As usual very nice time with her I can already see her mom putting things in her head but I can't control that. In time she will start to know more and speak for herself. Already starting to pull out my Fall and Halloween decorations and starting to put them throughout the house. Soon the smells of Fall will be caressing my home. Also must say that lately I have been attracted by owls. Decorations of owls. Hey! Don't judge. To add to my interests, I pulled over Sunday night on my way home and caught a nice lightning show.

Anthony Zahn has finished his second Paralympics. Much happened to him mentally as well as physically before the trip to London but he went and represented. Anthony has commented on his Road Race on Cycling Illustrated as well as on his ITT. Below is his Kilo event in London.

Drama. How I Missed Thee.

The days of no "ex" drama are over. I was already starting to say how its been a while. Again I am being accused of abuse. I'm already sensing my "ex" is putting things on my daughters head and making her say things. I am afraid my daughter will end up like my "ex". My "ex" already alienated herself from her family for many years saying she was abused, so this is nothing new to me. 

Drill weekend coming up and I already know it's going to be a very busy one with a very small crew to run the clinic both days. But nothing new for me. Always looking forward to getting together with my fellow "Docs" and Sailors. If you're interested in joining let me know. I know a great recruiter.

Still reading Charon's Claw and thus far a good read. I have to say this one has been better than the other two in the trilogy. Feel like R.A. Salvatore is back with this book. Can't wait to finish it to see what becomes of Drizzt and his new companions. Still watching Humprey Bogart movies. Working through the collections I picked up a while back. Mainly his smaller movies. Got back on my XBOX with Leviathan, the new Mass Effect 3 content. Leviathan was short and was hoping to spend more time in the water planet, but some questions were answered in the end. New Avengers Initiative game announced for mobile devices. A bit pricey but will not stop a fan.

Last post I wrote about people needing instructions on toothpaste. Well, this past week I met some of those people. Now I know why instructions have to still be printed.

A couple of new trailers up. A new Wizard of Oz animated movie called Dorothy of Oz has been released. As much as I love the Oz world this movie looks horrible. Also another fairy tale gets a hollywood release with Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. This last film looks interesting. Rumors have it that the new Iron Man movie will feature Mandarin as the villain. To wrap it up, there is a new Riddick movie in the works.

BBQ Days

Many wonder what the meaning of life is. Can this be it? BBQed' 2 days this weekend and hit up a few yard sales. So two whole days relaxing at home cooking and spending the whole day outside with Natalia. Chicken was one the smoker the first day (you can see the smoke on the picture). Not my specialty but I want to work at it. My parents thought it was good, I didn't think so. The next day Tri-Tip was on the smoker and that is my specialty. Also started to get inspired and started to split my many logs. That is a nice workout.

The Marvel Universe is again changing. Captain America creates a new Avengers team where some X-Men are part of. A famous villain will cause chaos and the death of hero. All in the new Uncanny Avengers #1. I will never catch up now. Also Guild Wars 2 got released this week. I found the first one to be very good. A true contender to WoW, and I find it to be a better looking game.

Here is a question for all. Why is it that we are in the year 2012 and instructions are still written on toothpaste on how to use and dispense? Do people nowadays not know how to squeeze a tube and apply to toothbrush? Something to think off next time you come across some people.

I may loose people because of what I am about to write but I don't care. As much as I like to talk and share my life I tend to never get politics involved. However I must say I watched the RNC and I liked Clint Eastwood's speech and parody. If you didn't understand what he was doing you're an idiot. There I said it.

I'm thinking of starting a new game on my posts. Just something to get people thinking and a way for me to test you. Feel free to research anything. Text me, email me or comment the answer or thoughts. Still thinking of a catchy name but it will be at the bottom of posts and maybe on the right hand side of the blog.
