Thanks Scalzi! Bye Binky.

I have to thank John Scalzi for such a good story. Old Man's War was a very entertaining book that moved along at a good pace. This book is catchy from the first paragraph in the book.

"I did two things on my seventy-fifth birthday. I visited my wife's grave. Then I joined the Army."
- John Scalzi

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It has a few "wow" moments and got you to care for the characters. Not "hardcore sci-fi" but just enough to introduce many elements such as "cloning" and "space jumps" and it kept me turning pages as the story moves along and a world is created. I finished this book in roughly two days and quickly started The Ghost Brigades (the sequel). Thus far halfway through the sequel and don't find it as good as the first but still a page turner. Last year my favorite book was Forever War and this year this looks like it. Both books similar in style so there must be something special to the formula. Hit up a local used book store this week to see if I can find some books and got a few Harry Harrison and Heinlen books.

Natalia slowly says bye to her "binky". Here with me she hasn't used it in about a year, but seems her mom uses it often to keep her quiet. A little bit of a fuss this morning which lasted about 5 minutes with me. So far it has been real good with me (knock on wood). Hope to stop by the Dr. Seuss event this Saturday at the bookstore.

Winter is not yet over and as years prior is has been a weird and mild winter. Very few snowstorms spread out. I prefer to deal with snow more often even though I would  complaint but it keeps the spirit going. However already almost looking toward spring to see how far I get with my planting. It will warm up to Saturday and I expect another snowstorm Wednesday. Still no word on snow amounts  but I don't think it will be much.
Here is a story that got me to read a bit more and think just a little. Dr. Batra, a neurology professor at the University of Mississippi did some research and found out that the 13th Amendment was never officially ratified in Mississippi. Of course the officials will say what you imagine them to say, that it was an oversight. But what is amazing to me and is not emphasized is that according to the articles I read on this story, the state of Mississippi vote on this in 1995. In 1995!

I have to share this picture with everyone. I think it is funny in the sense that now we have all the "security" in place with DHS and scanners and intelligence and all the 3 letter agency names keeping bad people out of U.S. soil. However we have this (pictured) security established through thousands of miles surrounding the U.S. Some is a chain link fence just a few feet high. So can we please stop with this "BS" security and fake show of force.

I also want to share this funny cover in reference of Soylent Green. This is a movie I think everyone should see. Also I did a little research and found this movie is based on Harry Harrison's Make Room! Make Room! book which I now want to read.

I'm not much of a movie watcher lately but it is impossible to not come across the propaganda and ads all over. Catching Fire (known as Hunger Games 2) is due to release soon. I have not yet seen the first and may never see it. However I recommend everyone read the books. I found them very entertaining. Yet another zombies type movie being released. This time a marriage of zombies and westerns. Sounds good but I have my doubts on this interpretation. Check out Wesley Snipes in the new Gallow Walkers >>

Altiverse, Guns and Dogg?

Gotcha! Some of you saw the picture and may have thought - "What the heck!" or maybe "He lost it! Nope, it is just one of the covers for Phillip K Dick's The Man in the High Castle which I finished reading. I don't read much alternate universe type genre and found this one to be a decent book but a little hard to read at times. I know this is not his typical writings so I will be reading more Phillip K. Dick's works in the future. SyFy channel also has announced they will bring this book to screen in the near future. Started to read Old Man's War and I have high hopes for this story and my first Scalzi book. Thus far a page turner with a few "wow" moments.

Got a Dr. Seuss video for Natalia that turned out to be somewhat of a documentary of Ted Geisel and a bit interesting. Some of his books were political in nature due to the time Ted Geisel lived. Being the way that I am, I now will spend time and money (that I don't have) collecting all his works over the years. More and more I am reading books to Natalia as she asks me.

I was expecting some drama from my ex this week but to my surprise I received none. She seems to have been on her medications this week pretty heavily. Calm and quiet all week and Thursday morning.

As far as gaming, I haven't been doing much. Still haven't picked up Dead Space 3 or the Aliens game. The Aliens game actually doesn't look pretty and hasn't gotten many rave reviews. Jumped back in Borderlands 2 for a few hours the other night and shared my arsenal of cool weapons with a few. They were grateful. Haven't ran across any "dickheads" lately online which is real awesome.

Now onto the controversial views. I have to stir the hornets nest as for those that know me, it is what I do. Not because I like to make problems but simply to open the eyes of many and show other points of view that may not necessarily be those of the mainstream citizens.

I will simply post here a new NRA ad and the Second Amendment. I will also like to point out actual wording of the Second Amendment as so many do not know it and the media loves to change the wording. Many words can have different meanings to some such as "Militia", "free State", "Arms" and "infringed".

Also below I have written down the actual oath the President takes before taking office. Note his actual job is solely to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
- Amendment II

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
- Oath of office of the President of the United States of America

The ad above as gotten many negative comments. That was already a given before it even came out. For some reason the mainstream person sees it as cool to be "anti-gun". Because they feel if it cool and what everyone wants to hear. Much like years past all the "cool" people wore that lame yellow Lance bracelet to show they are cool and care by paying a dollar to a guy whom used that money for his horrible actions. So you can read between the lines here. This ad to me simply makes some true statements how these "elites" have no problems employing such firearms to protect themselves. They just don't want you having the right to protect yourself how you see fit.

Two more "Dorner Manhunt" observations I would like to point out. One thing I found very funny during the "Dorner Manhunt" was an short interview of a guy in Big Bear where he said "He is anti gun but would love to have a gun know to protect himself" Just think about that. Second, for those of you that saw Dorner's "arsenal of weapons that the media showed off should be wondering why they are not damaged in any way after the fire they went through as the cabin burned down. Here is a short video on the display of weapons >>

A few ask me or even wonder why I have a blog or do this. Well it is sort of a journal online. I like to think of it as a hobby to share and it keeps me busy. I do it for myself and hope it remains up for many years to come so I can look back or anyone can look back into it. This may be our "time capsules" to the future generations. I don't like Facebook or such social sites as there is no control. Here you can have all the control on what is posted and look. I encourage everyone to put up a blog about yourself or anything you wish to share. The internet is not for media or businesses. Far from it. It is for the people to share and connect. One way to keep the internet free is by doing so. Sadly most see it as a place to shop and get news. Why not be you the one posting the news or your views. Also why not a "podcast"? Imagine if you didn't? Imagine if no one communicated or told their views? I think it would be a whole different world. One I don't want to imagine.

Lastly I have to share this video with everyone. Excuse the language beforehand. This guy has a job to do and well I've been on the receiving end. I know not to park my car in the street or you will expect this. People may complain but they also complain when the roads are not plowed.

Is That Snow Falling? Wait! Was That A Meteor?

Still in the spirit of Valentine's Day I will share this great quote:

We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.
- Dr. Seuss

As always a great time with Natalia and cleared up her scar in her nose. We started to read more books together this time and hope it continues and she becomes comfortable around books and likes them. It will be one huge relief for me when I have that feeling, as I know she will have a foundation to learn and be an individual.

As I am ready to post this it is still snowing outside and over a foot of snow on the ground (haven't been outside to measure it). About 20 degrees outside and the birds out in my feeders. According to SoCalWeather.net it may dump more snow and even lower temperatures than the previous storm. So, it looks like I may be calling off work on Wednesday and be constantly on top of the snow as I have to make it down the hill by Thursday morning to pick up Natalia. Because if I am not I will be accused of abandoning her. Those in the high desert get ready for very cold temperatures and snow again.

I have to now mention the awesome event of a meteorite entering earths atmosphere  But the stories just don't add up to me. "Experts" are claiming this meteorite traveled at around 40,000 mph and hitting the Russian lake with the force of 30 Hiroshima type bombs. Yet we all saw a video and pictures of a small perfect circle with no splash. Such a violent entry and impact should have caused so much more destruction and the site of impact would have been rather large and much debris for miles (just check the many images such as the one pictured here of the impact site). Why are we being lied to? Also some sources have 2 other such meteorites hitting earth. Now please check out the Tunguska meteor also hitting Russian ground in 1908 and see the impact left. Of course information of the actual energy hitting is reported different all over.

Finished reading Mr. Penumbras 24-Hour Bookstore and it was a nice read. Nice story but was hoping for a much bigger ending. Decided to spend the money and buy The Man in the High Castle by Phillip K Dick. This is touted as a very good book and I look forward to it. Ordered Old Man's War and waiting for that one before I jump into a long book after that.

I'm going to share a little secret with everyone here. Many females have a "thing" for Jason Statham. It is no secret I like Statham in action movies, Matthew McConaughey as an actor and comedies with Vince Vaughn. I am not homosexual nor am I homophobic by any means. Many ask me what female actress I like and I really don't have a favorite yet. As on previous post I have no hate for any color or group. Just wanted to share that.

I came across this picture and choose to share it with all. I know this picture will have very mixed feeling from all. I will not comment on it as I honestly do not see anything wrong with it. For my next post I will share some of topic. Won't get into it as I do not see it as a huge issue.

I have to give kudos to Playstation for a great You Tube channel. Awesome interface with the phone. I will keep playing with it and hopes it becomes very easy to use. I use my PS3 for all my media watching. From BluRay to Netflix. Sadly no gaming there.

For a few seconds I was thinking of going to San Diego Comic Con. Never been and I want to go one day. Asked a friend of mine and she was not interested this year. Actually good because tickets sold out hours after being offered.

Check out this video of Senator Warren going after banks. However all she gets is ... no answers. >>

Geek News - Ender's Game movie out November 1, 2013.

I came across Halloween Is Grinch Night which I have never heard off. A Halloween version of the Christmas movie. Pretty cool and one of Natalia's new favorite.

Not You Too Valentinus!

Saint Valentine's day has come and gone and for some a day to reflect on their loneliness. For others an obligation to rush to the stores to purchase decorative wrapped candy and flowers. But for a very few, a day of thanks for having that special person next to them forever with no doubts and peace. A day where a mere look or admiration are enough to show that other person that they are lucky to have that. For a little history I send you to Geoffrey Chaucer's Parliament of Fowls which may be the first reference to what we now know as St. Valentine's day.

I wish Saint Valentine would have struck me with an arrow on Thursday. Instead I think he punched me, and not because I fell in love but maybe to wake up. I picked up Natalia as usual and this time her nose was scarred again. As usual when I ask what happened I was told she was like this when I had her a few days prior. The lies just flow too easily out of my ex wife. Needless to say the conversation was not productive. This time I am fed up with this handling and lies. I contacted CPS in San Bernardino county as well as Riverside county. Seems I have to go through Riverside country. My ex wife in the conversation told me she has a case filed for me so I called to see if it was true and I await a call from CPS by Monday. I know I opened a case when she took her, so I hope that is still open and I can add to this. I need to know whom takes care of my daughter and how. Taking a child to an amusement park weekly is not parenting. My next choice is to petition the court for more time with me so I can limit the treatment she receives. I believe between my ex wife being bipolar and somewhat suicidal and not had any experience taking care of herself let alone others, these things happen. I cannot have my daughter suffer for her lack of experience, mental condition, or just plain stupidity.

With that being said I will clear up her nose in the next few days and get her back to normal and prepare myself to the next problems. Sometime mid next week another storm is due to roll across the mountains bringing snow.

I like sci-fi movies and it seems Tom Cruise is the choice for many directors. I have to say I very much dislike Tom Cruise for some reason. Please Hollywood, start looking for other faces or even "unknowns". Also please Netflix get season 2 of Walking Dead up. I got hooked on the show and now I cant get my fix. Or if someone out there want to lend me season 2 I would really appreciate it.

Marvel Studios is still moving along with making Guardians Of The Galaxy to the big screen. I have my doubts on this movie as the story is not mainstream for the readers of comics and a very weird concept.

Ok, the first G.I. Joe movie in my opinion sucked. So they choose to make another one and bring Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis as headers to bring in the crowds. Ok so we have an action movie, but why call it G.I. Joe? Just give up. Give the movie to a good writer with a great story.

I was kind of surprised many readers found my stories and posts recently to their liking. I am sure others are not as pleased as they have yet to open their eyes. So I will keep lightly going.

Since the manhunt was in my backyard I will put my "2 cents" in this. Why shut the whole mountain down in this? I know the LAPD is very afraid of having Donner talk and show the world how corrupt and how nasty the actions used by the department are towards the citizens. Also word is he was stashed away "A stone throws" from the headquarter set in Big Bear yet they didn't think to check that house. Lastly, he was burned in this cabin where they will need DNA or other forms of testing to determine if it was him, but miraculously his plastic ID was not burned? Also remember the media said his ID was found near San Diego days earlier  This is the miracle California ID. Also worth mentioning was the interview of some "witnesses" that very much sounded like they were reading a script given to them just seconds prior. His actions chosen to bring to light the "culture" of the LAPD I believe were not right but still a message needs to be heard. Sadly the word out by the media is that he was "crazy". By the way, the million dollar reward will not be issued. I don't think it was ever going to be issued. It was used to get the people in a frenzy.

Was Dorner Lynched? >>

Now I'll go a little "crackpot" on you. Is this meteorite a sign that Saint Valentine after a long day the day before fell to earth as failed to spread love in the world or as an injection to earth from above to spread love? My mind sometimes works overtime thinking this stuff. LOL

Love, Manhunt, Books, Oh My!

Lately I've been thinking and looking back at the time I wasted being married. Not the being married part but having wasted those years with a person so evil inside. I do like the marriage concept of sharing life with another and having the belief that this other person is there for you forever no matter what. I wish I would have married another person and have given that person my years of sharing. At least I wasn't married as long as some (I feel the picture depicts to me what real love is to its core). I will always have to be aware that this person is the mother of my daughter and have to make sure her bad habits and being are not implanted in my daughter.

Natalia again sick and with an irritation in her left antecubital area and that is becoming a normal thing. Not much I can do as trying to solve this or dealing with her mother is impossible. I was called as now she claims all this is my fault and it is a burn. Making the accusation that I burn my daughter. But this is not new. I've been accused of stuff you can only imagine. Crazy and I sill try to deal with her. I need to learn to just hang up and not deal with this nonsense. I am learning to not even give thought to communicating with her. I hope this drama doesn't scare anyone way. It doesn't get to me.

Natalia loves just hanging out at home and playing and being a little girl. Snow kept us inside most of the time and we cooked and played. Natalia has been wanting to go fishing and I will try to find a fishing pole for her to play with around the house. Can't wait to spring and summer so I can take her out in the woods to play in the ponds. Of course we still have much fun left with winter. One of the great things of living up here is the seasons.

Lately I've been staying at home and wanting to stay at home and not going out. Mainly to save money to buy books. Call me weird, a geek or stupid. These words or any words do not hurt me. So many books to read and many are new and hard to find for "free" online (don't tell the government). It is dangerous for me to go near a bookstore. Not much TV watching as all I've been watching lately is Sons Of Gun (Dear Santa, I want an AR rifle or a 1911 to replace the one I lost in the fire). No video games lately either but I would like to pick up Dead Space 3 and the new Aliens game. Here I posted a picture I came across and it simply speaks for itself.

By know everyone knows of Christopher Dorner and his actions and "manifesto". I highly doubt the manifesto is real in its entirety. Just more anti gun propaganda being planted by the media and government to get us to submit to them. What is crazy is the actions of the police in their hunt for him. The killings made by police being justified by searching for this guy. Amazing! Then they shut down the whole mountain for hours in fear of this. Now talks about drones? Are we crazy? Just a reason to give Obama a way to sign another executive order to have drones flying over the citizens. All good until they start firing at civilians. Make all the fun you want at me but does the word Skynet mean anything to anyone? U.S. Military are not to point their weapons at any US citizen.

I would like to apologize beforehand on this post. I'm going a little "crackpot" as some may see it. Again feel free to skip this one.

Here are a few articles I came across and would like to share. I know many will not like it or agree. But I will let you read them.

Navy SEAL whom killed Osama is getting screwed by the government >>. This doesn't surprise me but that is the system. He goes back tot he real world and joins the rest of us getting screwed by the government. Plus I sure he will not find an adequate job any time soon.

Congress Destroyed The Postal Service >>. Also think whom will take the place of mail delivery once our current government has gotten rid of it. It will be public service where the government will be allowed to intervene with it and monitor it. No more privacy there. One step closer to socialism and getting rid of that being passed through our current mail system.

Civil War? >>

Geek News - The movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas will get a remake much like the Lorax did. It will never create the feel of the original. It will miss the narration.

Don't Forget Your Towel and Thanks For All The Fish.

Never though we would see the day we would not be able to read because a book ran out of batteries. I find myself sometimes not being able to read when I want because I need to charge my Nook. Plug it in and wait about 20 minutes to get it able to power up. Technology making life easier for us. With that being said I finished reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A short quick read and I liked it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a light quick read and humorous. This is the book that gives us 42 as the answer to the universe along with many funny quotes. Don't ask, just read it. Right away read the second book The Restaurant at the End of the Galaxy which was a fast read but enjoyed the first better. Also just saw that Neil Gaiman is releasing another book this summer, The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Can't wait for that one.

Your normal post here and a change from the insight look at me on the last post. Not much other that as usual staying at home and playing with Natalia. Hit up a few thrift stores with Natalia and my Mom and no good finds. Even the bad economy is hitting the thrift stores. Between 6-12" of snow expected Friday and Saturday. I was excited for it but realized I have drill this weekend and will not enjoy Saturday watching the weather with Natalia most of the day. We will see this drill weekend as some of us may go out to support medically some SeaBee units in the shooting range or go out with the Air Force in one of their mass casualty exercises again. I will most likely stay behind running the clinic. Either way I am good. Wouldn't mind hanging out with the SeaBees for a while and playing with guns, but I am sure it will be very long hours.

I don't have many friends or people whom I share with. I got some news from a friend whom has a chronic illness and I take these things inside me. I'm not like many that say they are sorry and give you the "canned" responses. These things go inside me and I do feel and "pray" that they do not cause physical harm and can be cured. I think that is why I don't have many friends because I take so much inside from those I care. Funny because many will tell you that I seem like the person whom doesn't care about anything. Quite the opposite but I am glad to be able to wear that shell as protection.

I have to again mention and give my two thumbs up to the UCI 2013 Cyclocross Worlds in Lousville Kentucky for the venue and footage. I do wish it was close as I would have loved to been in the crowd. But watched live and found myself working tactics in my head and talking to the screen.

Finally took the time to see the trailer to the Man Of Steel movie and it doesn't look that bad. I know trailers are made to hook one into the concept. It got me at least a bit interested. Not only do I have hopes for this movie but the DC fans have much hope for this movie as it can lead the way to a Justice League movie.

I came across this awesome website for creating super cool graphics. Check out Thrilling Tales Of The Downright Unusual. Also a clip from a cool concept movie called Noon which may come to the screen. I would love to see this movie or read the story.

I will like to take the time to inform that ex-Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle was killed along with friend Chad Littlefield. I won't say much into this matter. But I again ask why is it that in such cases the media uses the full name (first, middle and last name) of the shooter or accuser? Seems in every tragedy this is being used by media. Why not also write Chris' or Chad's middle names as well? Either way sad news.

Up On The Soap Box.

This will be one of those posts that gives you an inside look at me. Like it or not! So you are warned and feel free to skip this one if you want and if you still like me then welcome to my side of the fence.

Warm temperatures and no sign of snow this week as it will remain the same for the next week. Possible snow next weekend. Got the bird feeders filled for my colorful musical visitors.

1984 was a fast and easy read and found it to be one of those books everyone should read. Decided to read the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy and see what this book is about as many rant about it with its humor.

Before I go on my rants I would like to give a huge thumbs up to the Louisville Cyclocross World Championships. About an hour of pure pain. Not only in U.S. soil but in Kentucky! and all posted to the internet with no stupid restrictions or lame clips. Now, let the rants begin!

I was just reading on Yahoo one of those stupid celebrity sections called Madame Noire and came across one where it was making fun of Stacy Dash for voting for Romney. I can go on for a while being amazed at this mentality but truth is I see it very often and worries me. This country is slowly being separated by very ignorant people. What is worse is these ignorant people don't have an idea about history and facts. To say that people of certain race should favor those of the same race no matter what you believe or what the agenda is. I can honestly say I grew up not being racist. The idea of it was never embedded in me or accepted this until a few years of moving to the United States. The idea of hating another person only because of their color is still weird to grasp. I know it is very rare but that is me. Now as a grown person I see it implanted everywhere and being thought to children. I'll let you just let this sink in. Amazing! Yahoo needs to pull this and not be associated with this thinking. Of course maybe they want to cause this separation and belief in our society.

Work has been slow lately and many workers are starting to question why we are not getting a raise as our store went to a Supercenter. We are being told it is not a Supercenter even though the word is posted everywhere and we have so many managers as required for a Supercenter. I am sure we will get some lame excuse so this giant conglomerate of a company can save yet even a few more dollars. In the meantime I am trying to set the record as the fastest cashier at our location just to show a few of the "managers" here that I am "hot shit" and then drop my numbers to the average. Yes I am being a bit of an asshole but, I am treated the same by some. They can see I can do it but what is my incentive to do so? We are being pushed to not help each other, in turn not being able to help the customers and this I don't like. We have many regulars that yes, they come here to feel welcomed and "chit-chat" and we are being forced to not socialize and interact and share with them. To the point I even get questioned why I helped them with their items or even walked a few out to their cars. They want me to call another person to help them, so wait here for 10-20 minutes if someone decides to show up. Nope, not on my watch. Then they wonder why sales are very low. I know I am a pain in the ass. It is no secret and I am liked for that.

One last minor rant. Why is it movies now have a Homeland Security label warning label on them. I fail to see how this is a "terrorist" act. Just another agency and more of our tax dollars going to this. It is said it harms our economy thus our nation to make a back up copy. What about all the bankers and banks that created this economic crisis we live in here and all over the world that have destroyed the economy. I haven't heard of any getting jail time let alone pay fines. Shut up slave (ITM)!

This is who I am. I am that person whom doesn't dress up to impress and kiss butt. Get another person for that, there are many useless people out there needing the fake attention. I am the type you call when the "shit hits the fan", or when you need to get it done. I have the ability prioritize and see the strengths and weaknesses of others to get the work done. I am used for such problems and I do not mind and prefer it. Many may see this as bad as they want to be the person taking the credit or "kissing the butt". It bothers me none as it is people like me that make a difference. Especially in the Navy where many times much is needed to be done and very few can jump in and get it done. I do it proudly to process personnel to get their necessities done and get them mobilized, trained or their health take care of. I am the person whom worries about others. I am not the "ME" type that only cares about himself. I want to make sure my people are trained and taken care of. Not being pushed to the side. Matter of fact this next drill I will be a bit of a pain as I want to see more training. I don't feel me or many of us are fully ready to deal with certain incidents. I don't like that feeling, especially when some in our unit have much experience and knowledge. I won't change
